Hampshire Veg Box started in 2020, partly as a response to the huge challenges we face as a result of our existing food system, as became obvious in the pandemic.
HVB spent it's first 3 years operating as an aggregator hub, sourcing as much organic and local produce as possible, along with other locally produced food.
As an aggregator HVB was able to build a strong base of faithful customers while testing out the best product range and finding the right suppliers.
Before long it became obvious that HVB were going to find it increasingly challenging to rely on other suppliers for it's veg. The founders set out to find available land to start producing food and were lucky enough to partner with an organic oat farm in Hambledon that also supplies them with oat mylk.
Hampshire Market Garden CIC was born and launched in 2024 to supply HVB, as well as offering wholesale produce to local businesses, thanks to funding from LEAP.
HVB moved it's operations on to the market garden sight, giving HVB more space to store produce, the ability to expand it's product range, and to expand to more areas of Hampshire.
The HVB team has over 60 years combined experience in growing veg, running veg box schemes, and working in sustainable local food industries. They all live in or around Winchester, Fair Oak, Eastleigh and the surrounding areas meaning they are actively involved in local activities, campaigns and love local events.
