Hub Onboarding & Support (part-time)
Deadline for applications - end of Sunday, 28th May, 2023
About Ooooby
Ooooby is transforming the food system. We are the online platform that connects independent producers, distributors and retailers with their customers and with each other.
We provide a simple and low cost solution for small-scale food producers to connect and trade with food buyers. We are the gate-to-plate platform for ecologically sound food.
Why we exist
There exists a problem with how we buy and consume our food. Consumers want food security with ecological food, but options are limited; small-scale producers can best meet this demand but lack channels to market.
We exist to rebuild small-scale food economies by providing software and support for small-scale farms and local food businesses to compete with large scale food producers and retailers.
We believe that improving the way food is produced and distributed is fundamental to solving the world’s most pressing social and ecological problems. Our mission is to put local small-scale sustainable farming back at the heart of the food system we all depend on.
Why join us
Since launching Ooooby in the UK in 2020, we have onboarded more than 60 independently owned hubs, delivering over £6 million in orders.
In April 2022, we secured funding which, alongside our existing network of hubs, gave us a foundation to deliver exciting and ambitious plans for growth. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the team to help support our expansion plans. We need support to deliver, predominantly, the onboarding of new hubs efficiently and professionally. First impressions are crucial.
About the role
Ooooby is a small team with big plans. This will be a fast paced role and we would expect you to grow with the team, there will be lots of opportunity for progression and development
You will be critical to the successful start of a food hub’s journey using the Ooooby platform. You will support onboarding hubs through each stage of the setup process, right up to (and past the point) at which they feel comfortable using our software
After the onboarding process you will continue to be a contact of support, feeding back hub pain points into our product roadmap
You will support the development of the onboarding process. We are a new business and still have lots to get better at. We need support to help us get better at onboarding new hubs and better at supporting our hubs in using the platform. We want you to become one of our onboarding experts
This is a varied role, but customer service is at the heart of it. We need you to enjoy talking with our hub owners and build relationships with them. Farming and food hubs are tough businesses, and you can’t expect conversations to be light and polite everytime! We need you to handle these situations with diplomacy
You will become an expert in Ooooby’s product functionality and provide your own (and hub owner’s) feedback to the rest of the team and into the product roadmap
About you
You should have a desire and an inclination to train and to teach. You may be onboarding multiple hubs at any one time - with each hub owner having a slightly different understanding of the process. We need you to be confident in developing your own style, whilst sticking to an agreed process
You should be knowledgeable and passionate about local food systems, but also have a desire to learn - this sector is fascinating (we think so) and you learn something new every day
You must be customer service oriented - your communication skills, over the phone, email and in person, must be measured and appropriate
You need to know your way around spreadsheets including using pivot tables, v lookups etc and can pay close attention to details within data sets
You are good at explaining technical things in simple terms to non-technical people both verbally and in written form.
You must be organised. You will be juggling multiple hub onboardings and accounts at any one time
You should be confident with technology and tech-savvy - we are a technology business after all!
You should be process oriented and eager to refine processes which you will later follow. We are in the process of establishing all our processes so we hope you can help us with this
We need you to have a solutions and detail oriented can-do attitude, and be comfortable working in a fast paced startup environment
Package & Benefits
Hourly rate starting at £15 / hour
This is a part time remote working role starting with 10 - 20 hours a week.
You will need a fast and stable internet connection.
28 days holiday a year (pro rata if part time) plus bank holidays (there may be a requirement to work on bank holidays)
